True strength of heart can defy all odds.”

This portrait is of a gorgeous gaited horse that was seized in a rescue by the Iowa Animal League. This horse was a breeding stallion, kept in a 12×12 stall, knee deep in his own poop. The hair on his legs had been burned off by standing in his own excrement for years, and his body and hindquarters were completely atrophied. I had the amazing opportunity to meet this horse while he was recovering at a Farm in Southern California, and he was so sweet, so gentle and so unbelievable happy to be able to run and play in a huge grassy field with other horses. He now lives a blessed life at the Iowa Animal League sanctuary and runs and plays in a field with his pasture mates.
